About the film

After escaping life as a child soldier, a ranger embarks on a journey to recover a lost park in the Congo from poachers threatening to extract its natural resources, while a team of scientists race to protect its unexplored rivers before falling into the wrong hands. Restoring The Wild

Read more Not only do we need to protect the nature that remains, but we also must restore the wild spaces that have been lost. In the heart of the Congo, Upemba National Park is a forgotten landscape that was once rich in megafauna. However in recent years due to illegal mining and poaching, much of its biodiversity has plummeted. Elephants, zebras, and impala that once roamed in the tens of thousands have declined to just a few hundred. But the story doesn’t end here. Today, a small team of rangers, led by Major Fils, are fighting to restore what has been lost. This film, created last year while on assignment in Upemba, is the beginning of our journey to tell the story of restoring one of Earth’s most threatened and biodiverse places. Next month our team will be filming in some of the most remote and inaccessible corners of Upemba to capture this story. We invite you to join us. Places like Upemba must be protected. This starts with building a global community who value them for what they are.
